Feathers... by marlboromaam

Feathers...

The long hairs all around a rough collie's ears are called "feathers." The groomer wanted to trim them. Shocked - I said, "Don't you dare!" Obviously, she does not know about rough collies and their lovely long hair and how to groom them or where to trim them. He just needed the fur on his feet trimmed so he could get better traction. I trim his little "pants" and the long hair underneath his tail for sanitary reasons, you get my meaning. =) A shot of his "pants" is here - https://365project.org/marlboromaam/my-2nd-365/2022-11-01 Thank you!

Uploading early since we are expecting thunderstorms to move in this afternoon and last through part of the night.
Beautiful feathers. Love the color and texture.

Will has a great "Mom" who takes care of his grooming needs even in the delicate areas.

I'm guessing that's a groomer you won't be going back to. A good groomer knows their breeds.

I love this detail of Will's hear. He is so fluffy!
I was always making sure groomers didn't shave my German Shepherds. Most of them would have done it! Since my dogs are adult I do the grooming as my big boy is too grumpy for anybody to dare brushing him :-)

@shutterbug49 Thank you!

@jeremyccc Thanks, Jeremy.

@joysabin Ha ha! Thank you, Joy.

@cdcook48 I'm thinking I'll have to educate, Chris. There are so few rough collies in South Carolina.

@corinnec Thank you very much, Corinne. I take him to the groomer for a bath, nails trimmed and feet trimmed and that's all. Brushing him out is a good bonding time for us. =)

LOL! Phil - https://365project.org/marlboromaam/my-2nd-365/2022-11-01 Thank you!

Tally, my Sheltie, had a quick hygiene trim but I didn't want anything else touched - so glad you kept his coat intact. I think groomers can get a little scissor happy!
