Sweetheart! by marlboromaam

Sweetheart!

Just a craptastic shot of my red sweetheart roses and experimenting with effects from Perfect Photo Suite. Hmmm? What do think of the "Hollywood Glow" effect? The shot is pretty bad - too much harsh sunlight! I may have made matters worse. Oh well!
Beautiful lighting on this shot. Awesome job!

When you mentioned "Hollywood Glow" this photo immediately reminded me of Marilyn Monroe. The vivid pink and the glow ... yep, that's her. (I think it was the movie Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" where she wore that bright pink gown!)

@karenann yes I think you are right... ah Marilyn.. just the name evokes ... well it just.. evokes.... I won't say what...lol

it looks really good but maybe just a tad too much glow on the bottom 1/4 of the frame..just sayn...
May 4th, 2012
@joeboxster You remind me of my best friend, Dave, Joe! He loved big busty blonds! LOL! I appreciate your feedback, Joe. The shot is pretty craptastic. Had I shot it in better light, it probably wouldn't have been so bright in the bottom.

@marlboromaam really I'm a leg man....
May 4th, 2012
I think that you made the best of bad lighting and did pretty well. They are lovely flowers!
May 4th, 2012
I don't think it's craptastic. I think you did a great job of editing it to give it a dreamy feel - which makes the harsh lighting work with the softness you added. No, it's not technically perfect, but you've done a good job with what you had to work with.
May 4th, 2012
@joeboxster LOL! Well it's a shame you couldn't have seen mine 10 years ago! I used to have the best pair of LONG legs in the state - so I was often told! Not so much now though. Ugh!

@amandalomonaco Now that is a very kind thing to say! Thank you so much, Amanda! Most appreciated!

Love the lighting. (I always hesitate saying anything because I don't know much, BUT I DO KNOW WHAT I LIKE. And I like this a lot.
May 4th, 2012
I know what you mean about the harsh sunlight. I have trouble with it unless I have time to fool around with my manual setting which are still very unfamiliar to me. I think your experimental shots are a good learning tool for other people as well. I really like what you are doing.
May 4th, 2012
I love the lighting and the effect!

The sun makes the roses so pretty, but I agree that the leaves don't cope as well with the light. But those roses are very pretty!
May 4th, 2012
@redrucksack Thank you, Eva! I appreciate your honest feedback more than you know!
May 4th, 2012

They sparkle like jewels with the sunlight on them. Our roses are finishing up now - I am going to miss them!
May 4th, 2012
@purdey Yes, my tea roses are all gone now, too. Don't know if they'll bloom again this summer. The ivy may have choked them too much. Appreciate your kind comments, Sharon. Thank you!
