And when she got there, the cupboard was bare (except for a jar of Black Olive Gourmet Tapenade and a Godiva Chocolate Bar!)
For the Mad Minute Word -- abligurition. According to the explanation in summerfield's post, it means prodigal expense for food; spending lavishly on fine foods.
Well, our cupboards really ARE bare, having emptied them last week in anticipation of eventual removal for kitchen demolishing. And the Mother Hubbard quote came to mind, along with the ludicrous image of the only thing in them being some extravagant, non-essential item.
I went to the store looking for something that sounded expensive, but that I could actually afford, and would use at some point. I've never tried the "Black Olive Gourmet Tapenade" before and figured I could justify its purchase by saving it for a housewarming party whenever our house addition and new kitchen are complete.
The Godiva Dark Chocolate Filled With Raspberry bar was, I admit, a prodigal expense. It's all for me -- not sharing! I shamelessly used 365 and the mad minute word as an excuse to get myself my favorite fairly expensive candy bar. It won't break the bank, but at this particular moment, I should not be indulging. Tsk. Tsk!
Looks like a lot of work. Black olive tapenade is gorgeous and so easy to make. Slice a french loaf 1-2cms thick, or a ciabatta (preferably) toast on a griddle pan then spread the tapenade.
@steampowered Thanks. I suppose we'll need it (good luck). It's an old house and I've watched enough HGTV renovation shows to know what all can go wrong and pop up as extra expense!
goodness, and here i thought i was the only prodigious one to indulge in such abligurition. i'd share my godiva but i've already promised ann @olivetreeann i'd send her some (if i don't forget whilst eating them).
@summerfield Your promise to share your Godiva with Ann is now on record! Re: next Monday's mad minute word -- I'd love to, though Alicia has asked me to choose Friday's word and if you want to spread the fun around, that's fine with me. Otherwise, I found plenty of good words online yesterday and could certainly come up with one for Friday and one for Monday. Let me know what you want. The mad minute words are becoming addicting (to me, anyway). Hmmm...how to drum up lots of excitement and lots of people playing with us...?
I love this - the chocolate is obviously for inspiration while planning your housewarming extravaganza - or comfort through the endless days of waiting for the reno to be done - you might need another bar or two.
