Tuttle Creek Lake from Dam by mcsiegle

Tuttle Creek Lake from Dam

One of three photos I'm posting for my get pushed challenge given to me by Laura @la_photographic to do a landscape, seascape, or skyscrape. I live about as far from the sea as you can get here in the U.S., but I do have a large body of water nearby and this was a perfect excuse to go out to Tuttle Creek Dam and photograph the lake created with the building of the dam in the 50's and 60's on the Big Blue river. It was a beautiful morning and I wish I hadn't had to come back into town and go to work in the afternoon. This photo is taken looking north from the shore at the edge of the dam behind me.
@la_photographic Laura, here is a "lakescape" instead of a seascape. I hope you like it.

Looks great.

It is a lovely body of water and the way it disappears on the horizon makes it look like a sea to me!

I notice the white soil at the edges of the lake. Is this sand or is this the color of the soil where you live? Is there recreational use of this lake? It seems so "uninhabited".

@randystreat the foreground is white rock of various sizes. The dam is behind me. I’m standing on a path that goes across — came down from the East side off to the right. In a normal non-COVID year, there’s lots of recreational use of the lake and State Park surrounding it. This particular edge, though, is at the base of the dam and so is not a normal shoreline. I don’t come out here often. I really ought to, but just don’t make the time to do that.

Thanks, Katy, especially for your comparison to the sea. Made me smile.
