Purple light series number one by mcsiegle

Purple light series number one

I seem to be assembling a collection of photos taken in the strange purple light cast by a number of street lamps around town. A lot of people here in Manhattan are enjoying that, as the Kansas State University color is purple.

I was beginning to wonder if they had done it on purpose for school spirit. So I did a Google search and found out it’s actually a manufacturing defect of som LED lights. A LOT of defective bulbs. They can be found in cities all across the state, and in other states. The folks in Lawrence, home of rival University of Kansas, are not enjoying the purple nearly as much as we are!

According to Evergy, the manufacturer is taking full responsibility and footing the bill for replacement bulbs. Evergy will be replacing them over the next 4-6 months. From what I read, it seems that others will also be going purple as they start to fail. Since once again I’ve gotten more than halfway through the week without having posted any photos (posting after midnight Thursday/Friday) I’m putting a big purple streak across this week and filling in several days with these photos.
This is a wonderful composition. I love the color on the leaves

My utility light started turning purple and I thought I was losing it. I, too, researched it and found similar information so sent a repair request into the electric utility and it was replaced in a week. What was really weird about it was how things in the light began to appear to be yellow. Opposites on the color wheel I guess.
