Snow Day by mej2011

Snow Day

Still not feeling 100% so I just snapped a shot of the tree stump near my window while it was snowing today.

Editing consisted of Picnik's 1960's effect.

I logged onto MSN today and saw this- Friggatriskaidekaphobia is the fear of Friday the 13th. You and your project immediately came to my mind!
January 13th, 2012
Love the movement of snow. Hope you feel better soon.
January 14th, 2012
I thought this might have been Arboriphobia??? Fear of trees.
January 14th, 2012
@bobfoto
Aboriphobia? Never heard of it. Dendrophobia is fear of trees. Which can be seen here: http://365project.org/mej2011/365/2012-01-06
January 15th, 2012
I made it up.
January 15th, 2012
It is one of my faves.
January 15th, 2012
@bobfoto
You made it up? Why?
January 15th, 2012
@mej2011 - well Aboriculture is the study of trees and an Arborist is someone who likes trees and an Arboretum is a place where you can go and see a tree. I thought a phobia of trees would have to have Arbor in there somewhere. In my dictionary of the Tree, the words starting with Dendrob, tend to be trees hailing from the Tropics, to which we know 80% of the world's tree species are endemic. We do know that Dendrochronology is the art of counting rings to see how old a tree is and only true trees with lignin will do that.

Sometimes my brian has better things to do, like make things up and place frogs on tomatoes.

@bobfoto
Your dictionary of the tree? They make specific dictionaries of words relating to trees? Interesting.
January 15th, 2012
@louiesphotos
Thanks & Thanks!
January 15th, 2012
@mej2011 - they do. Colin Tudge has written a wonderful tale of the Tree simply called The Tree and that is a Natural History of What Trees Are, How They Live and Why They Matter. The dictionary I speak of is called The Plant Book by DJ Mabberley and it is A Portable Dictionary of the Vascular Plants containing 2,500 new entries in this second edition, the full tome contains 20,000 entries from Aa to Zyzyxia
