The campsite at the mouth of the Fortescue wasn't quite what we had expected. It was lovely to catch with friends who have been camped here for several weeks, but without a boat there is very little to do. Tomorrow, when the tide is low enough to allow us cross the Du Boulay Creek, we'll make our way to Karratha.
Lovely photos of this pair. Not sure where the name zebra finch comes from. Looking at the male and his spots I would have been more inclined to dub them leopard finches:-)
Oh - these are the most gorgeous little birds. We saw them at The Pebbles N.P. near Tennant Creek. They build the most fascinating clay nests - lined with grass. We didn't get up close enough to see all of their details - so your image is wonderful to see. :)
lovely shots of these sweeties. They generally move so fast they're hard to catch!
We didn't find much to see at Karratha. Make sure you see Red Dog at Dampier!
