This is the first time you're seeing his face clearly. And it's a face I absolutely love. J was customized by a Japanese BJD artist who goes by the nick, Avvelenato. I adored her work. She sanded J for softer contours, then handpainted him. I love those strong, beautiful eyebrows she has given J. J's eyes are 16mm Zoukeimura glass eyes in gold, which I think are the most beautiful pair of eyes I own because they have great depth and clarity.
If you are interested in reading about BJDs, here's an interview ( http://www.bjdcollectasy.com/articles/interview-with-lyn-raftis.html ) with a BJD artist, Lyn Raftis, who does amazing work. Take a look at her photos. (Scroll down to see a beautiful male BJD torso!) You can read other BJD articles on that site. Be warned that some articles feature nude doll photos. (A gentle reminder: BJD dolls have anatomically correct bodies.)
These dolls are really exquisite, Livia. One can see the beautiful artwork in them . . the painting is amazing. I've never seen anything like them before. All of your photos are wonderful . . have you ever done this professionally? Even your writing is eloquent. Great work. :)
Thank you, everyone! I'm really grateful. Thank you so much for visiting and leaving a comment!
@karenann: They are pretty amazing, aren't they? I remember when I first saw a photo of a BJD doll online. It was love at first sight! After that, I looked for sites for more information on them, saw more photos, realized I was hopelessly hooked and decided that I needed to get my hands on at least one boy. Well, as if I could stop at one! *RED-FACED* As for doing anything professionally, you mean my photos? *EVEN MORE RED-FACED* No, er, I am an amateur when it comes to photographs, I only know how to make sure the autofocus mode is on! I think I'm lucky in that I have a near-perfect spot by the window where the sunlight comes in beautifully. (I edit my photos by cropping and adjusting the contrast levels in my 12-year-old Paint Shop Pro.) As for writing, I did write for a living before, but that was many years ago. Now I just write for fun!
Those dolls are really artist master pieces. Easy to fall in love with them.
You pic give them life and personality.
Thanks, I`m glad you like my fall pic. You`re welcome
Beautiful light and detail! I think you're doing a great job with your tz18, I have the same camera, but I'm not sure if I can make pictures this clear...

@Geertje K: I'm using the FZ-18. I think your TZ-18 is a different series. Here's an interesting page I've just googled that lists the differences between the two cameras: http://snapsort.com/compare/Panasonic-TZ18-vs-Panasonic_Lumix_DMC-FZ18
