If I look at these orchids for more than a few seconds, I start feeling dizzy. Is it just me? Should I get my head examined?
I find the speckled pattern on the petals amazing. But I just can't stare at it for long. Everything starts to look oddly out of focus. And it doesn't help that, towards the center of the flower, the color does in fact look smudged and smeared!
It's a variety of the Phalaenopsis orchid. The flower is said to resemble a moth in flight, and so these are sometimes referred to as Moth Orchids.
I am . . a little! LOL But it's an amazing orchid . . haven't seen one like this. This one yours? Orchids are so hard to grow, I think. I'm crossing my fingers for the Christmas cactus that I just bought. :)
Thank you for your comments! It puts a big, silly smile on my face to know you've enjoyed seeing the flowers. (No one got too dizzy, I hope!)
@karenann: Nope, it isn't mine, this orchid grows in the conservatory. I'm tempted, but I don't dare grow orchids. I would hate it if I caused one to die. (Is my cowardly nature showing? *sheepish smile*) Christmas cactus? They're pretty!
A big "THANK YOU!" for all your comments! It's great to know I don't need to get my head examined. 8D I really do appreciate everyone for taking the time to stop by. Thank you so much!
