Now it's G's turn to play at being a Christmas angel!
I had great fun with this shoot. Noise was deliberately added in processing to give it a grainy, vintage sort of feel. I'm not sure if it works. Also, I need to tell you about this wig.
It is, without a doubt, the goofiest accessory I've ever bought for my BJD boys. It's handmade, it's big and awkward and clunky, it has white faux fur, feathers, flowers, pearls and shiny silver snowflakes! This wig is a crazy thing. I cannot explain my attraction to it. But the second I saw it in a Yahoo! Japan auction, I knew I had to have it.
It's a good thing it's doll-sized. Or I might actually be tempted to put it on my head. (Did I say that out loud? 8D )
Your dolls are so beautiful, Livia! Anything you do with them is great! Their large eyes and sweet facial features just make me think of fairytales, legends and myths of long ago. Perfect shot!
Bet the wig would look great on your head if only it were big enough. I think this is an amazing, androgynous shot. You have a talent for bringing dolls to life!
Another fave. Gorgeous! I think I might be falling in love with your boys!
I'm always nervous about deliberately adding grain in case people think I'm just a crap photographer, but it really works here because of the sepia, I think!
How funny, because when I was reading your second paragraph, I was thinking I'd love to see a pic of it on YOUR head! LOL!! Aren't those Japanese something else? I'd love to do some Kabuki and Harijuku fashion photography some day!
beautiful, I've been looking in to these BJD and my god their expensive, but then when you see the size of them and the work that goes in to them it completely justifiable. thank you for sharing x
I want to thank everyone for your time and comments! Thank you! I do appreciate it. Thank you for visiting. I'm glad to know you've all enjoyed seeing G in his goofy angel mode.
@tabbycat: The Japanese society and culture fascinate me. The more I find out about them, the more I feel I should go live in Japan for a while so I can experience every single traditional, beautiful, crazy, magical, cool and creative thing that defines the complex Japanese psyche. They are an amazing people.
@neeko: Yes, BJDs do cost a small fortune! And it's hard to stop at one once you start. Many BJD collectors I know own upwards of 5 boys. I'm really happy to know people on 365 enjoy seeing my BJD boys. I love them, and I want to present them in the best possible light.
