I think cyclamens are very pretty because of their curvy, upswept petals. To me, they look like tulips gone rogue. It's too bad they don't grow naturally or well in our climate which means the only place where I can see them is at the conservatory, where this photograph was taken.
Stray thought: If you were a flower or plant, what would you be?
I think I'd be a thorny cactus of some kind. Because I'm low maintenance, slow-growing and anti-social. Heh.
Wow! Such pretty bright pinkish reds! Very attractive! Lovely garden, Livia! A cacus, huh? I'd probably be green briar... it's a pain and hard to get rid of unless you dig up its root and it durn nears survives everything!!! LOL!
Another gorgeous photo, Livia. I smiled when I read your comment . . a cactus, huh? Your sense of humor is wonderful. I love it. I think that I'm more of a cactus too . . kinda prickly. But I'd rather be a lilac. Lovely color, wonderful scent, growing profusely, and then fading slowly away.
Such beautiful colours! I'm with you when it comes to cacti - I would say nearly half of the plants in my garden are cacti or succulents. Our climate in South Africa is perfect for them. They are also extremely waterwise!
Beautiful - the light and shade and textures and colours are gorgeous!
Think I'd be a happy snowdrop....bringing hope and smiles in unexpected places and when least expected! Not too much maintenance and enjoy little groups of friends!
Wow. Spectacular colour and nice POV. ..and yeah, they're the most impossible plants I've ever tried to keep alive...
I think I'd be a frangipani, so I could relax, nude in the sun on the beach in Hawaii all day long!! AND I'd smell utterly divine!! :-)
Cyclamen have always been one of my fav's. They're really easy to grow in Oz and always throw great flowers. They make the job easy for snappers like us! As for me, I'd probably be an upside down orchid, slightly unconventional and backward ;)
Gorgeous shot! They do look a little like tulips gone rogue!! I've never seen that POV before. I love tulips :) I'm not sure what type of flower/plant I'd be though.... hmmmm will have to think about that :)
These flowers are truly beautiful. It is good you have a place where you can go and see flowers blooming year round. The question you pose is interesting. There are so many flowers to choose from. I think I'd be one that starts blooming in spring blooms through fall but sleeps away the winter. I'm not sure what that would be.
Pretty flowers! Not sure I 've seen these before. If I were a flower, I think magnolia blossom....I'm from the south, where we have a lot of these, they are so fragrant but yet sturdy....nothing really showy to look at..pleasant none the less. Some say they are not a flower, but a tree blossom, but I think I read you can classify them as a flower.
A big, wet, sloppy, heartfelt "THANK YOU!" to everyone for your comments. This is a busy holiday time and I really appreciate that you stopped by for a look. I had so much fun reading all your comments, and discovering the flowers that you think you'd be if you were one!
Beautiful. I'd stay in the "secret garden" all day! Love the depth - feels as if you are being drawn further and further into this sacred garden. Striking colours. Yes, I think I'd be a cactus as well. I'm in the rainy season of my life - popping out like a cactus getting ample water!!!
Beautiful luscious color. (As a flower I think perhaps I would be a Dahlia, they come in different colors and I love all their petals. But a mighty oak lives for centuries, that's what I would be!)
they are pretty flowers. That's so cute that you'd be a cactus - you know they hold lots of water? how's you fluid retention? lol
I think I'd be a freesia, because they grow wild along the coast down here, are low maintenance. oh and they smell divine!
wonderful composition and colours. a long time ago someone told me i am like a cactus. but i think i'm more like a crocus - here for a few days, then gone forever.
If I were a flower, I'd like to be Strongylodon macrobotrys, love my colour, a little unique and thrives only in the Tropics!
Think I'd be a happy snowdrop....bringing hope and smiles in unexpected places and when least expected! Not too much maintenance and enjoy little groups of friends!
I think I'd be a frangipani, so I could relax, nude in the sun on the beach in Hawaii all day long!! AND I'd smell utterly divine!! :-)
Again, thank you so much!
