As promised, please meet Mr Two-Toed Sloth. He is enjoying a piece of juicy melon. 8D~
This shot was poorly taken but the rest were even worse, so it's the best among the best-not-to-be-seen. I don't know where my focus has gone and that piece of juicy melon is over-exposed like whoa.
No zoom was required in taking this shot. I was close enough to kiss him on the head if I'd wanted. The Fragile Forest is a walk-in enclosure where there is no barrier between you and the animals and birds. It's my favorite part of the zoo to visit! I have more zoo shots for the rest of the week! 8)
You are far too hard on yourself! Look at that shiney nose, as for kissing him yuk, so glad you didn't but do get the picture of how close you were! ;0)
I see dof ... but the clarity is right spot on! You amaze me, Livia. This is gorgeous and he's adorable. I'd love to reach out and pet him. The colors are beautiful. P.S. I wouldn't try to take his treat away from him though .. I mean, he's got some great nails going there. LOL
@paulaag Yes, he was hanging on to the thick tree branch with his left forefoot and two hind feet while holding on to the melon with his right. And behind him, you can see the legs of another sloth hanging upside down. He wasn't as big as I am but he wasn't carry-in-my-arms small either. I kept a respectful distance. 8)
Oh My Llivia! I would love to visit that forrest!! Im going to look it up right after i tell you how Awesome your Pictures are and dont ever apoligize for them ...as many of us just wish we could be able to capture half of what you do!! Great Great Capture and i will be looking out for the rest of the week!!Fav! :)
Wow, how cute is that and truely stunning that you were able to get so close to him. I hope I'll have an oppurtuinity to visit this place some day! Fav!
I so wish I had a zoo like that around here. In retrospect, I take that back. At the zoo's near me, its the people you have to watch out for, and their allowed to roam free. lol. I think your focus is perfect on this. Great capture.
Don't hide your light under a bushel! It's a great capture. Must be a wonderful place, when you can get so close to the animals. Thanks for sharing this unusual sight :)
Don't know what you mean about it not being a good shot I think it's great. I used to work in zoos many years ago and did some voluntary work at Singapore Zoo when we lived there. On my first morning there I was working in the fragile forest where myself and the keeper I was with discovered a new-born two toed sloth - maybe this is the one! - it's a wonderful place, and we miss it and Singapore (especially the Char Kway Teow!) terribly
A great, big, melon-flavored, much loved and much heartfelt "THANK YOU!" to everyone!
He was fun to photograph because he was so focused on his fruity snack. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and look at my album. I can't say it enough: I am grateful for your encouragement. Thank you so much!
cannot tell you how much i love sloths. when i have one of those lazy days where i dont even get out of my pyjamas and sit around watching movies and eating food all day (doesnt happen very often sadly) i call them my sloth days.
FAV!!
