She did jump when she ran out of room on the leaf! XD
From the instant she saw me, she scrambled backwards. She was fast, and never took her eyes off me. Every time I went nearer, she moved backwards some more. Then she jumped out of sight. I was lucky to get this clear shot at all.
She's probably a Telamonia jumping spider. White and orange all over, with translucent green legs. Probably not an adult yet at about 4mm (0.15in) only.
And we're halfway through Jumping Spiders Week! I hope no one is traumatized. Please do not feel obliged to comment if seeing spiders scares you.
In other news, I came across this macro photographer's work and I am blown away! His work is jaw-droppingly gorgeous: http://500px.com/shikhei
How do you get so many?!!! I think you have a jumping spider farm. You breed them and actually they all obey your every command. You are the Spider Queen!
Looks everso cute, I love the way she is backed into the corner; I miss read your comment re the macro photographer, I thought you said he is gorgeous! Imagine my disappointment when I saw nothing but insects;0)
@jlhopgood *LOL* I hope everyone realizes that I'm not finding a jumping spider every day because that's just impossible! XD I can't do a whole week of jumping spider shots until I have made enough of them over the course of the past 2-3 weeks or so. I look for them in the park, mangrove forest and nature reserve. I don't always find them on every trip. But I keep looking because I love seeing them! 8)
@gphelps5 Haha, I know how you feel. I'm not giving up my camera, but I know I am never going to put any of my photos on that site because, by comparison, mine all look ridiculously bad. I'd be ashamed to call any of my photos a macro shot on that site. XD
I think I'm not suffering from spider-phobia (anymore) how else do I keep coming back and I find it hard to believe that anyone would be traumatised by those cute fellas. Love her translucent legs. How do you know it's a she? :D Thanks for the macro-photos link, amazing shots there and I quite enjoyed to look at the Royal couple's visit to Singapore, too.
Great composition . love it how you`ve captured this spider and leave it in the left upper corner with the vine of the leaf to draw you attention to the spider .
@hiiretips I'm glad you're enjoying the spider shots! Thank you! 8D I think it's a she because male Telamonia spiders look different with a much darker brown color on their bodies. For many jumping spiders, the male and female look different in terms of size and colors. 8)
Great shot of the shy little spider! Thanks for sharing the other pics too - I love the dancing lizard! (I think your pics are also jaw droppingly-gorgeous, BTW!)
I have no idea how you are able to take these amazing shots while the spiders are moving! So impressed! Such a cool looking spider! Amazing detail and I love the title!
* I think I may as well give up photography now...
I think I only call your spiders cuties ;)
Thank you so much for your constant support. It is a great source of encouragement and motivation for me. Thank you!
