The natural orange color of this flower (a marigold, I think) was so bright, I actually had to desaturate the hues in my shot, I couldn't look at it without feeling like a headache was coming on. XD
But I do like how the shallow DOF threw most of the petals out of focus. They now look like flames to me. Moving, burning, fiery flames. If you have the time, take a look at the larger view for a better feel of the effect. 8)
This is great - since marigolds are about the only flower I can get to grow here, I have tried hundreds of shots, but never had anything that I felt worth uploading - I had tried fiddling with brightness and contrast, but maybe I'll have to try desaturating too - I love the result!
