@digitalrn - this is a tidal stretch so it changes by the hour. When the tide is fully in I think there is too much water in the picture. But I am waiting until I can get a really good red winter sky and a high tide to see if the long shadows on the water would be good.
while completely off the subject of your actual photo. I was reading a novel this morning and they were talking about a bridge over the Tamar and the amount of clay soil. Great to see the photo so I have an image to go with the story.
I cannot speak to the quality of this weeks reading choice with high regard since I have been in training for flood plain review of law, insurance and engineering and needed a mental break. It is called Love Engineered and here is they trashy novel synopsis. http://www.amazon.com/Love-Engineered-ebook/dp/B0036TH4V0
@brumbe - OK enjoy. Not my thing historical novels.
Now if he happened to be the brilliant engineer on a starship taking the vestages of mankind to another star system when they encounter a beautiful alien who is independent and knowlegable about engineering...
Hey! I have a book here... Hmmm. Thinks...
@netkonnexion I just learned the about the whole Steampunk genre of literature when looking for cheap books on the kindle. Historic, Future, they are both good fiction.
@brumbe - Cool. I love SciFi. Don't have time to read much these days. Too busy working or taking pictures. But I would like to have more time to do that sort of reading.
oh no, just realized there are two Tamar Valleys and it all depends if you live in New Zealand or England. My book takes place in England. You can see my guesses here are just as good as on the Identify This
@brumbe - I am in England. This Tamar Valley is on the border of Cornwall and Devon. We have family there and spend about six weeks a year near where this photo was taken.
terra perfectum! My immediate reaction to the small image was "Group of Seven" landscape http://www.mcmichael.com/collection/seven/index.cfm The curves of the aqueduct bridge works so well with the curves of the river. Splendid composition!
@whippeteer - Great shot, lovely processing. Great old car. Love that.
Interesting about Calstock. This Tamar shot was taken from just outside Polbathic. If you look here you can see another simular shot... http://365project.org/netkonnexion/365/2011-04-24
The viaduct at Calstock is to the left of the linked picture but out of sight.
@netkonnexion Yes when I looked carefully I thought it must be out of sight. I loved it there I was working as an archaeologist in Plymouth and got the place through the observer ads - my dad saw it and I thought it would be too expensive but it was very reasonable. It was lovely and I tried to get it long term but it was booked up in advance. I moved to a bungalow called Buena Vista and the name was spot on :-)
