@olivetreeann - Thats lovely. One of the things I find facinating about abstracts is what they do for the viewer. There are so many different interpretations. They inspire people to think creatively about the image. I love that idea, that I have helped inspire people to think creatively in thier own way.
@will_wooderson - actually, I have been playing with composites a bit recently. Part of that has been to play with 'opacity' in photoshop. The image is no mystery. It is three photographs blended together. The main image is a picture of a glass of fizzy water with red ink in it. Then a picture of a sunset is overlaid with medium opacity using the 'multiply' mode. There is a further picture of a wicker basket using low opacity and 'soft light' blending mode.
I worked on this image for over a day trying out different things to get the effect I wanted. Actually, I was a bit unsure of how people would take it, but it seems to have been well received. Most of my abstracts don't get published.
Sundown party time! (I'll pass on the inky soda water, tho')
That's really cool and creative, liking the concept too. Clever use of the basket - to emphasise the strata of the stratmospherics maybe?
The colours unearthed a deep memory of a tiny glass pelican I had and loved when I was - oooh 6? 7?
Nice one!
@dulciknit - ah! The pelican we all have in our past. Of course... Why didn't I think of that. LOL.
Yes the basket was an added texture to bring out the underlying strata. It had to be a very light touch or it would be recognisable. I just wanted enough right-left darks to underlie the depth.
Wonderful creativity...I just came across one of your earlier works when scrolling through the tags on "oil"...one you did, I think, in 2011...an oil drop on a background of rainbow colored light bands...I'm glad I found you...inspirational!...Thank you, and nice to & meet you.
( Landscapes have n`t to pose for you and do n`t complain if it takes time.)
