This Viaduct Was Not Built By Isombard Kingdom Brunel [01]
...but it's predecessor was. Brunel, the famous victorian engineer, did a lot of grand works in Cornwall. However, on this crossing of the River Tamar he build the wooden scaffolding type of bridge so common in the mid-west of America. Of course it was later replaced because in the UK weather the timbers soon rotted. You see here the replacement viaduct. Aside from the wonderful countryside around it, and its own magnificence, it has a story to tell. More tomorrow...
