Cornish Birds Of Prey Centre [5] - Mine! I caught this!
When a falcon catches some prey it is on the ground eating and suddenly it is vulnerable. What you see here is mantling. This is the action where a bird spreads its wings, fans its tail and arches over its prey, hiding it from predators and other birds. Every few seconds and after each peck at the food the bird looks up and around to check for danger.

These birds are really wonderful , I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to hold one, when they had a display at Ludlow Castle ,btw I put the pic on 365 a few weeks ago.
