I spent a happy two hours in Winchester Cathedral this afternoon. It is a stunning building, but for the purposes of this week, there are patterns all over the place.
This shot was taken using a Canon 5D MkII mounted with a Canon 50mm prime F1.2. I love this lens - it's a consummate low-light performer. This picture was taken hand-held with no flash.

You live in such a beautiful place. .... I wish I had as much beauty in my surroundings. This is an absolutely beautiful picture. Worthy of a magazine.
Beautiful shot of the Cathedral nave. I spent a week at the Cathedral and took quite a lot of photos of the Cathedral. Exeter is also worth a visit and a great opportunity for photography.
Hallooooo Damon! Wow, this is a grand picture; I bet you could spend a whole in that cathedral and not take the same shot twice; I hope you have more to post.
(Thanks ever so much for checking a little ways back; it was so cheering, and it came at a really good time.) Be very well, Les
wonderful shot, I visited Winchester and the cathedral in 2007, wish I'd had a good low-light lens like this - this shot is glorious, I didn't get anything that even came close
This is one stunning photo . . and gorgeous cathedral. I'm glad that you talked some about your camera. I want to "graduate" from my p&s some day and want another Canon. But when I looked up the price of yours . . I almost died. Guess that I'll have to wait a little while longer. :)
Beautiful!!
It really amazes me that religions embrace such intense beauty in their architecture, art and music, and yet perpetuate such fear based crap orally! Yet another of life's paradoxes, I suppose!
Superb shot, best viewed large. I'm guessing there must be at least a month's worth of shots in a place like this. Must be awesome to experience. The detail, workmanship and engineering skill to create a building like this is just mind-blowing.
what a shot - 1 can get the whole feel for the church - you were able to get the whole height of the ceilng - beautiful - i so enjoy just sitting inside a church - fav
OMG look at all of thse wonderful comments :) I am not suprised.. Sorry I am late.. This such a seriously stunning shot.. Fantastically taken.. A fav here as well
