This is not a monochrome photo. It is in fact a 25 second full colour exposure taken around mid-night. At that time of night in a town the colour of the street lights is strong enough under snow clouds to create a bright exposure. But the Neon light is so strong that the colour overpowers all other colours. Digital cameras are much better at seeing this sort of scene than film. Actually, I like this scene better in b&w. But I put it in here because if has a sepia feel to it and it shows how strong light pollution can be.
By the way, it was snowing heavily when the photo was taken. But over 25 seconds the only flakes that showed are the ones that have faintly adhered to my lens. If you want something to disappear then make sure you do a long exposure if it is moving.

Great shot - I took a couple last night too and as you have here, everything came out orange! Light pollution at it's best bouncing off white surfaces! Nicely done
I agree with you, I like the b/w better. I find it very interesting how you were able to take a color photo at night, but it has an eerie sort of color to it.
cool shot - and yes, I noticed this - I was desaturating the yellow from my snowy night shots - and here in the outskirts of London we were looking at pink colours too
Hoping all is well. :)
