@dulciknit - I should really have used a hair light on this to separate his hair from the background. It was taken as part of a seven shot series to show the classic portraiture shots. So it was taken as a very basic shot where the lighting aspect on the face was the most important outcome.
@netkonnexion See what you mean about the hair - an interesting point and food for thought for me. I understand why you're not entirely satisfied with the image but I still like the sense of presence here.
Oh... I was just pontificating. This was not a portrait taken as a personification. It was a demo for the way the light falls on the face. I would totally have set up the shot differently for a proper portrait.
