Marlow Lock, River Thames, UK

This is a lovely place to come in the calm of evening.

Taken less than ten meters from my other shot tonight...

Very crisp shot, and the reflection in the water is gorgeous!

A great shot. Is it still used, or is it more a visitor attraction now?

Love the reflections, but confused as to why anyone would plant lawn on such a slope...it must be hell to mow.

Great shot. I "lock" it a lot. I like the landscaping and they way they made it into a mini-park.

Beautiful! I love locks!

the only locks i have ever experienced have been on the st lawrence sea way in canada. quite interesting, was a child at the time, seemed like it took a long time to me, but i understood the mechanisms. hard to believe this is so close to the other photo.

@catsmeowb - When I took this shot I was standing next to the second lock gate on my right (out of view). Then I turned round a walked toward Marlow about 10 meters facing the Westering sun - hence the golden glow. So the other gate was never seen in either photo. It is a very picturesque spot facing either way from that point.

@digitalrn - it is still used many many times a day. This is a very busy section of the river. Mostly it is frequented by leisure craft where once-upon-a-time it was mostly commercial narrow barges.

Such a beautiful site,...could be one of the many locks on the Trent-Severn Waterways (canal) along Central Ontario. its 240 miles long with 43 stations and 45 locks. strictly tourims now.
