Fire at Marlow Rowing Club - Sir Steve Redgrave Devastated
Marlow Rowing Club (MRC) is famous. It is the home club of Sir Steven Redgrave. He is a five times Gold Olympic Medalist for rowing at the 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000 Games. He was Knighted for his endevours. Redgrave rowed daily at the Club from 1976 to the mid-1980s and is an Honary Life Member of MRC. He still takes an interest in the Club and opens regattas for them. He says he is devastated by this fire.
In this picture you can see Marlow Bridge in the background and on the right hand side bank below the bridge is the clubhouse. The fire gutted the clubhouse and destroyed most of the boats. The club are making efforts to get a rebuild underway. Here are some links for your interest...
