Identify This No. 123

These are maybe more of a difficult to identify, what are they?

More about "Identify This"... http://365project.org/netkonnexion/number03/2011-05-11

Previously, in ID This No. 121...

I like the way that Rachel Bell described this. She got it down to a fine art. Details and to the point. She said: "Lens hood". Well, I was right wasn't I? That says it all? LOL

Honorable mentions...

DavidCHR It's one of those funky drink holders that so many lens manufactures are thoughtful enough to supply with their lenses! They're really convenient since they can be attached to your lens and that way you don't lose them! (Great when sitting out in a hide waiting for birds to fly in for their photo shoots...) Net says:-->> Super cool idea. Love it. A Doohicky Award!!! Yaaaahhhhoooo!

Alan Warren - Docking ring! xD Net says:-->> Oooops! No, but a Doohicky Award! Yaahy!

Kylie Martin - have to go with lense hood. Net says:-->> 'T'was a difficult choice then? LOL

Alison Bailey - Oh, is that what those lens hoodie things look like? Don't you have to be careful where you use them, in case you get an ASBO or something ? Net says:-->> Nothing could be worse than an "Or Something!" LOL. Nice one.

Paula Brumbe - Great, it is a friendly reminder that it is time to purge my house of unwanted things so I can find my lens cover. Net says:-->> Hmmm! I know how you feel. But if I purged my house I would have nothing to photograph for "Identify This" LOL.

Mike Warren - Coffee lid cut out to be a lens hood :-) Net says:-->> Oooops! No, but a Doohicky Award! Yaahy!

june milner - Lens hood . as I expect we all guessed this one . First time I've ever felt I knew. Net says:-->> Cool. You are catching us up. Nice one. Stay on track. Many more coming...

Mair - Seen these on posh cameras. Not sure why they are there though. Sure someone will educate me! Net says:-->> Well, they help prevent incident light hitting the lens from the side at an angle that will create flare spots or exposure haze. Simple! By the way, my camera is not 'Posh' Its a Canon! LOL.

Howard N - This object is an uneven edge lens hood. It is used to allow both long and short light into the lens. It is typically constructed of plastic. And, it is the lense manufactures way of giving equal passage to all light wave lengths. Net says:-->> LOL. Nice one Howard. You should be a professor of physics. The we really would be in trouble! LOL> Fun. A Doohicky Award! Yaahy!

Kathy A - I'm sure its part of a camera. Net says:-->> Wow! How precise is that! LOL

Sue Wilde - It's that flower shaped thingy which, if I paint it pink, will make my camera look like a flower. It's also very useful for when I fan over because it breaks and this breaking absorbs the impact of the fall so that neither the camera nor I suffer breakage. Very clever of someone to have designed that. Net says:-->> Oooops! No, but a Doohicky Award! Yaahy!

Lesley Barber - Lens cap? Net says:-->> No, but it is the thing that goes around the top of the lens to cut incident side light... Its a lens hood. A lens cap prevents any light getting in! Close. But not close enough. LOL. Have fun with your camera!

Thanks for coming by and joining in the fun. See ya!

What we see in this image is a quartet of devices that are used to screw things up. I like the miniature version you folks have on that side of the pond. Here in the states, as my wife might say, all it takes is me and three of my friends to accomplish the same end!
Miniature or jewelers screwdrivers they are.
