The structure is built with marble all from one of the four mountains that surround Athens. Currently, the only use of the quarry is for marble for the maintenance of the ancient monuments. The lighter color is the more recent maintenance work. This is deemed appropriate to the original.
Peek through the columns and you see a crane! No one was able to answer how the managed to get that up there and assembled with no damage to the monument.
