for the etsooi challenge... this week's theme is "spooky" ;p
so... what did i do with this? first off, it's two separate images (chess shot and skull) which i processed from RAW in LR5... exported both images to JPEG and melded them in PSE - played a bit with liquify to get the skull to fit with the knight a bit better... took into nik silver efex to convert to black and white... then to colour efex to add some fog and blur and do some stuff with light... THEN to topaz restyle for some toning and a bit more light play (messed with the layer style and the sliders to bring out some glow)... then back to LR5 for some vignetting to tone down the figure in the back (thinking maybe i should have toned down a bit more now... hmmmm...)
My kind of shot!! What fun to see, and the processing was fascinating to read. It's still amazing to me how much flexibility these processing software programs provide. Very creative and a great image.
Okay, I have new type of push that can change directions during the week depending on your images, and the edits you (and I) make - here we go with your multi-day/images push:
1) Capture an image of anything you might normally do and that you want to publish in your album. This is step #1 and needs to be in your album. Post and notify me that phase 1 is complete. You (and I) can't wait to the last minute with this type of a push.
2) Upon notification, I'll make some edits to the same image and post in one of my albums - this is now your step #1 image with my edits. I'll let you know that it is available, and I'll do this within a day of you posting the step #1 image.
3) Your final step #2 is to capture an image that when combined with the edited picture of step #1 in a diptych that you prepare tells a story and combines the two pictures.
Good luck and let's see if this type of a push is possible. Maybe even become a future challenge for dual edit images??
@mikegifford this sounds cool... so if i understand correctly, this is a little bit like when someone starts a story with a sentence or two and then the other person takes it over... so i take a shot and post it with, i assume, comparatively minimal edits... you will then edit that shot and hand it back to me to provide a follow up shot so that my original shot with your edits, plus my follow up shot, can be incorporated into a diptych that works... we can definitely have fun with this one!!!!!
@northy You're right....the ending shot (or second shot of the diptych) may or may not incorporate the first shot, but the two combined need to tell a story for the diptych to hold together.
I really love your chess shots - a huge FAV for this one - and thank you for telling us how your processed it - find that really interesting and helpful.
