so... this is sooc - assuming an in-camera double exposure counts as sooc...
i still want to tweak... would like a smidgeon more white and would prefer to clean up a couple splotchy bits... but overall, not entirely unhappy with how this turned out... :0
@vignouse and it's what many amateur digital photogs did in the early days of digital ;p. and at the end of the day it leaves one at the mercy of the settings chosen by some algorithm... Which leaves the question, why is it sometimes assumed that the factory settings are better or purer?
@northy I'm perhaps unusual in that I'm happy to straddle the sooc/processing fence! As you know, I've just finished a year of shooting sooc B&W with a fixed focal length and now I'm processing again... sometimes. I don't see the need to defend or favour one approach or the other - photography is a broad church.
Love the s curve and the dreamy quality. I'm working only in sooc right now to really focus on my light, and not depend on my processing, but I know that some of what I am frustrated with I could fix in processing.
I'm a fan of whatever works for you.
I would still appreciate any comments you have on the light in the pic. Even if you don't do flash.
@tigerdreamer hi Karen... are you asking how i handled the light in this image? this one was a bit frustrating given limitations of sooc... i had wanted to use natural light, but that was creating too many bits that were blown out - either that, or not enough that was going to be dark... this was done using my softbox light on the right hand side... there really isn't enough contrast for my taste, but it's the best i could do with sooc...
