It's a fairly shoddy shot - i didn't have a tripod with me, and of course this setting isn't meant to be used on moving subjects ;p however, i was running out of time and it seems unlikely that i will be able to get to anywhere better for this... to be honest, i prefer the over-exposed shot on the right compared to the combo... you can see it here: http://365project.org/northy/somebody-stop-m/2012-12-07
to get the bottom image I used PSE10's photomerge function to merge the three shots...
Shoddy? No way. As I said back on the first shot I really like the ghost effects. You can see the multiple positions of a player. I think you might have invented a new effect. I really like it.
This is a cool thing like Lyn said. You get a sense of action from the top photos too, the one guy moving forward, and the ghost players are wonderful.
Good capture...hard to do in low light and arena lighting always stinks! And I learned something...I didn't know about photomerge in PS10! (of course there's still so much I don't know about it!) I like the 'ghosties', it's a cool effect!
Does your camera actually do bracketing or did you have to adjust the fstops yourself? I don't have it on my piddly camera, but think I will give it a try the manual way sometime.
I like the ghost skaters!
@newbie yup - it does it for me - special setting for this... the f/stops are all the same... the exposure is what gets varied... surprised your camera doesn't do this?
@northy Yes, sorry...the exposure. No, the D3100 is a pretty basic beast (can't wait to upgrade). My dad's camera has this feature, I had it here for a while, but never got out to a good place to try it. I will get to it someday.
