'Scape - Homework II - CSC-20

Another go at the camera settings challenge:
http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/16160/camera-settings-challenge-20-in-camera-meter...

For all three shots i used the evaluative meter setting in my camera:

Top: single focus point, focussing on a dark bit
Middle: multi-focus points
Bottom: single focus point, focussing on a light bit

Another shot from this morning at the park in my other album

I think the bottom one has more depth to it. On my screen anyway lol.

Cool

I think I like the middle one best, then bottom, then top. Top one doesn't have the same detail in the snow.

@ozziehoffy interesting... i was surprised to find that i liked the middle one the best... i so rarely use the multi-point focus thing... but on my puter, the tones in the water are much lovelier in that one... of course, i'd be likely to play with the contrast and exposure in lightroom no matter what ;p

The color in the trees has more variation in the top one, but I l prefer the better focus of the white house in the center.

I'm a fan of the center shot. What a great experiment!! Such a pretty scene too!

Nice experiment....I never use the multi focus points...I guess you've shown me I need to be more flexible on yet another camera setting as I like the center image the best too! Thanks :)

I'll take the middle one...nice view for your challenge =)

I agree with the others. I prefer the middle one. Sometimes those cameras work. :)

Nice to see. I have to admit that after reading through what you were doing this morning, when I went out today, I practiced taking some different shots with the meter settings! See what a good influence you are!

great assignment! It looks like the middle one has the greatest contrast and still good detail in the snow. The top one is really nice too with the softer look of the snow.

I love the way you push yourself! Excellent experimentation. And look at all that snow- amazing!
January 27th, 2013
Oh yes, I can see the differences between the shots. Good work Northy :)

Great exercise, I always learn something from you. For me the middle one works best.

I think I don't get the instructions for this one...will have to go and read it all again. Single, multi ....
I like them all. To me it just looks like everything gets darker as you look from top to bottom.
OK just looking again, I like the top one :)

Really cool!!!

I think I like the middle one best!!!

Interesting test!
January 27th, 2013
I like the truer whites in the top, I think.
January 27th, 2013
I am so happy you did this! I was out shooting in the snow today and only got grey shots (because I was metering on the white bit - duh!). Now I know what to do next time.

nice.

Top one for me. Love the brightness and the white white. The bottom one is too dark on my computer.
