Winter is here

It has been a pretty grey day here today and has finally felt like winter, so when I saw this flower in the garden I thought it had a definite feel of winter about it.

Jo
I think we are in for a very wintery week and the clouds looked very snowy over the mountains this evening. Flowers at the end of their life do have lots of character.

The flower does look rather spent. All dried out and crispy.

Does look a bit ominous Babs, hope your winter isn't too grim.

This is such a pretty capture of a wilted flower, love the dof.
Gareth, our youngest son will be flying to Australia in about three weeks time for a holiday. It's just dawned on me that he'll be going from Summer to Winter!

@joluise I thought this was beautiful, but my husband said it didn't work for him!!! Today doesn't look quite so grey. The sun is shining but it is still only 14 degrees C at the moment.

@gypsy6 @winnedreamer Thanks Deb and Nic. This looks how I feel after the last few days!!!!!

@dekky740 @angelat Thanks. This shot just fitted yesterday's weather. Today the sun is shining, but it is still a bit chilly!!

@paulaw Thanks Paula. Luckily our winters don't get really grim, not like the UK. At the moment the temperature is about 14 degrees C which is cold enough for me, but the sun is shining. At least we don't get down to minus temperatures or snow. Also in Australia even though it is winter, it isn't winter 'every day' if you follow what I mean.

@rhos Thanks Ann. Where is Gareth going to visit. If he is up north he won't feel like it is winter here. Today we have a top of 17 degrees C and it is about 14 degrees at the moment. We are on the east coast of NSW about 200 km north of Sydney.

@onewing That's warmer than it is here! They're predicting 16degrees for us today, down to 11degrees for next week!!
Gareth will be flying to Sydney, then visiting family in Melbourne and possibly Port Pirie.

@rhos He will need warm clothes in Melbourne it will be freezing down there and also in South Australia. Sydney could be his warmest place. Deb @gypsy6 can tell you what the temperature is in Melbourne at the moment. Hope he has a good time.

@onewing Thanks Babs, I'm sure he will! Elin, one of his sisters in law, has just lent him a Lonely Planet Guide to South East Australia. She went there for a holiday between Uni and starting work. He can start making some plans now.
