Thank goodness Friday is 'People Day'. My feet haven't touched the ground this week. Glad the weekend is almost here.
Have you ever wondered what happens to Santa when Christmas Day is over and he has put his reindeers out to graze, paid the elves their redundancy money and packed away his red suit for another year? Well now I can tell you, he comes to Port Stephens for his holidays and this is where I spotted him.
I suppose after all that snow and cold at the North Pole it makes sense to come to the southern hemisphere for the summer which starts in December here. He probably relaxes in the sun for a few months, before having to set off for the North Pole once more, around September time, to start preparing for the next Christmas. So this is what Santa looks like in civvies. Keep a look out you may spot him too if you are lucky.
Just goes to show what you learn by being a 365'er.
Oh Babs! How fabulous!!! He looks a little angry about not having any snow.!! The processing is wonderful here too. You crack me up!!! If Friday is People Day...how do find out what the daily themes are? I have looked but couldn't find them. Thanks for the giggles!
Great shot Babs and I like the selective colour too, really makes Santa stand out from the crowd. Had me thinking don't think I've ever seen a pic of Santa with sunglasses before!
@eyesmile Thanks Gena Glad it made you smile. Friday being people day is just my personal theme, not a 365 one. I decided a while ago that I had lots of people photos which I wanted to use, so decided that one day a week I would put them on 365. As far as the daily theme goes though that I get by email and you can also find it on the themes and competitions page. Here is the daily 365 list for August http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/18741/just-4-august I don't tend to do any of the themes or competitions though, not got time.
@paulaw Thanks Paula. Of course you wouldn't have seen Santa with sunglasses, you have probably only seen him when he was working!!! You have to come to Australia to see him on his holidays.
If you think about it though skiers wear sunglasses because of the glare on the snow - ahh but then he visits at night so sunglasses would be a bit of a hazard!!
@streats Thanks Ian. What do you mean 'funny description'. It's true I tell you!! If you don't believe in Santa all you will get in your stocking at Christmas is a bag of carrots!!!
@steampowered Thanks Paul. Of course, it isn't his "Ho, Ho, Ho" face, he is probably over that one after Christmas. Can you imagine smiling at kids for weeks on end and patting them on the head, listening to all their long list of presents they want. I would be over smiling too!!!
@angelar Do you think he did spot me? I was quite a way off and zoomed in for this shot. Hope he doesn't remember it was me who took his photo when Christmas comes around eh!!!
@zenna Hi Gayanne. Thanks for the follow. He doesn't look too happy does he. He is probably a bit worn out. It's a lot of work getting round the whole world in one night you know!!! Hope he cheers up by next Christmas.
Thats brilliant. I will have to show the kids. They will be so excited that you have Santa holidaying up at your place. He does look like he isnt relaxed yet though. Perhaps he is just in his first week. It takes that to unwind!!!
@gamelee You could be right Lee. He was at an air show on the RAAF Base, so maybe he was checking out upgrading from reindeers to a fighter jet to get him round the world!!!
