All the fun of the fair

I have always found clowns a bit scary and this one is no exception. I took this photo at the fairground recently and I attempted to do a high key shot to make this clown look more scary than it actually was, if that is possible.

I had never heard of high key until I joined 365 and don't really know if this fits that bill. What do you think?

Waaaah! That has spooked me a treat! I used to hate clowns because they were scary and this just adds to that imagery. Nice shot though.

@steampowered I think I need more therapy after taking this shot. ha ha.

I see you've met my brother.

Great shot!

Think he needs to see a dentist! Good editing Babs, it works, although low key (dark and moody) could work too maybe?

I'm not scared of clowns, but this one is freaky! Great capture.

Scary to begin with and you definitely made this one into the stuff of nightmares!

Great capture but ooh so nightmarishly chilling !!

This reminds me of the perceived clown face from the Stephen King book IT.

I agree I am not a fan of a clown....they never make me laugh for one but you can't get away from the fact that this is an impressive face...well processed.

Thought clowns were supposed to be funny, this chap scares the bejesus out of me. Neat colours though :-)

Woah, that hits you between the eyes and, as the others have said, he's a bit scary! Great shot.

I don't know enough to comment on whether it fits the high-key bill but it sure is a scary face, would definitely give my daughter nightmares and I'm not over keen myself!

@daldry Thanks Rod. Didn't realize he was your brother I would have introduced myself had I known. Didn't even know he was in Australia.

@jackie8 @cathy366 @mcmary @tesssa @beryl @sewsharyn @eyesmile @happypat @hermann @suesmith @paulaw @doofus123 Sorry for the group reply, but been on the run again today after our breakfast at Salamander.
I seem to have scared the life out of most of you with this shot. Hope you didn't have nightmares. I didn't even attempt to go on the ride which this clown was advertising. Taking the photo was scary enough. I need therapy now. ha ha.

I agree with the scary bit. Well done for staying put long enough to take the shot!

@angelar Thanks Angela. It was scary but a girl has to do what a girl has to do. I need therapy now. ha ha.

Wow! That's a scary clown! I was just reading, online about high key and low key, also never heard of them before 365! There are tutorials on YouTube.

@sunraye He is scary isn't he. Enough to give you nightmares!!! I don't think this high key. I have looked at some tutorials since I posted this and will check it out soon. Have to put that on the list of photos to experiment with.

it is terrifying ------i always liked clowns until poltergeist the movie -and then stephen Kings "It" clinched it for me -this one looks like the one from "It" mini series

@annied Thanks Annie. I think I was traumatised by clowns as a kid when my mum used to take me to the circus. I needed therapy after taking this shot. ha ha.
