The original Victoria Hotel was built in 1840 and named after the young Queen Victoria, whose coronation was three years earlier.
About 10 years later, fire destroyed the original building and the pub was rebuilt.
The building which stands today was built in 1858, and was opened for business on the 9th December, 1858. The Victoria Hotel is the only hotel left in Hinton. When Hinton was thriving in the late 1800s, the town had 11 pubs.
@onewing I don't know how you reply to each one Babs...there are not many doing that.......don't flog yourself too much....so much appreciated but really hard to do.
