Coreopsis by onewing

Coreopsis

As you will know, I don't very often post flowers on 365, but coreopsis are David's favourite wild flowers and they are flowering everywhere at the moment.

I spotted these on my walk by the beach and am amazed how well they grow in pure sand.

@andrewkru @thistle @gigiflower @flyrobin @ceilidh @creampuff @lan @lilminimonka @loweygrace @chimfa @tonygig Thanks so much, they seem to be flowering a bit late this year and thrive so well when it is dry.

@annied I agree Annie, they do look happy flowers.

@888rachel I am amazed how many flowers grow in pure sand by the beach. Gazania, pigface and my other favourite, flannel flowers grow all along the waterfront here and in the bushland too.

@happypat Thanks Pat. I love seeing wildflowers, but rarely take photos of them. My daughter Deb once said "Mum is so not a flower person", maybe I should do a month of flower photos next month to prove her wrong. ha ha. I shall have to start looking. do you think I can do it?
November 10th, 2014
@angelar I am sure we have lots of blow in wild flowers here which have originated in other countries. Generally Australians have a thing about flowers being native. ha ha.
November 10th, 2014
@darthkitty I agree Kat, they are cheerful flowers and seem to thrive when it is dry.
November 10th, 2014
@onewing well I feel exactly the same Babs & only shoot flower photos when I have nothing else.....you give it a go perhaps? Summer where you are so should be easier but would you be bored...I would!
November 10th, 2014
@happypat I feel that flower photos are a bit of a cop out sometimes. I only seem to post them if they are significant which is what these are at the moment because it is so dry and yet the coreopsis grow so well in the dry and the sand. Maybe I can find some photos now and just post them during December. I will have to set myself the challenge now. Could end up in the funny farm by the end of December. ha ha.

Such a hearty flower. Gorgeous and wild, too. Our last house had a sandy garden. Surprised what can grow and survive.
