Under the pylon by onewing

Under the pylon

I am posting a bit early tonight because we are out for dinner and then off to the photo club meeting.

I have wanted to take a photo of underneath an electricity pylon for ages and on Sunday when we were at the wetlands I got the opportunity.

I took my life in my hands getting this shot. The pylon was around the back of the wetlands and because of the rain the mozzies were out in force.

The grass was so thick under the pylon I shudder to think what was lurking in there and as I walked under it, I walked through a huge spiders web. Don't you hate that when you hear the crackle of the web on your face and hair. Luckily I didn't spot the spider. I think he was hiding in amongst the struts of the pylon staying dry.

I was so pleased that I managed to get the angle of the pylon right as I pointed the camera upwards.

Fabulous perspective, great abstract!

This is such a great abstract image Babs, I amazed the bottom wasn't fenced in. You could do a number of different edits with this, changing the colour would be great too. Fav

Great shot Babs.
February 24th, 2015
Love those patterns and perspective :)
February 24th, 2015
That's a great abstract shot, you did so well to get it perfectly square. Yes, I hate running into webs because I would totally freak out if it was on my face. I ran into a huge golden orb at night once!

Wonderful patterns, depth of field and symmetrical framing Babs, looks like a Christmas decoration if only a tad on the large side:)

Maybe the spider is still in your hair Babs

February 24th, 2015
Stunning pov !
February 24th, 2015
Great lines Babs. A wonderful fav.
February 24th, 2015
Not often you are able to actually walk under one of these which is a pity as it makes for such a great shot. Glad you weren't eaten by tarantulas or deadly snakes in your quest for this! Very effective, love the symmetry.

Fabulous Pov great B&W
February 24th, 2015
Very brave to get this shot Babs. It was worth it though. The perspective is amazing. A great result.

Cool shot!
February 24th, 2015
Fav. Fantastic shot!
February 24th, 2015
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine, none of the pylons I have seen are fenced in. I will have a play with this when I get chance and try different edits.
February 24th, 2015
@salza @trishaford @flyrobin Thanks ladies.
February 24th, 2015
@debilz Thanks Debbie, look forward to seeing your version.
February 24th, 2015
@stray_shooter Thanks Ron. I have probably got Ross River Virus or Dengue fever now with all the mozzies that were around. haha
February 24th, 2015
@mrsrcg @judithaltman @samraw @beachdog @hermann Thanks so much. It didn't do my neck any good either, looking upwards to get this photo.
February 24th, 2015
@bella_ss Thanks Sheralee, Oh I hate running into spiders at night because the damned things are usually in the centre of the web by that time of day too and the webs are like wire Ugh.
February 24th, 2015
@pcoulson Thanks Peter, the things we do for a photo. You can imagine, long grass, spiders, snakes, mozzies etc. Oh how we love Australia. Didn't do my neck any good either, ha ha.
February 24th, 2015
@terryliv I made sure I got rid of the spiders from my hair Terry. As soon as I got back to the Wetlands Centre I made sure I combed my hair vigorously to get out all the sticky web and any stray spiders which may have been lurking in there. ha ha
February 24th, 2015
@sioux Thanks Sue. I don't mind spiders generally, but when you walk through a huge web it is a bit scary as you never know how big its occupant may be.
February 24th, 2015
@iwatts Thanks Ian, and for the fav.
February 24th, 2015
Awesome shot. FAV
February 24th, 2015
@tonygig @kwiksilver @seattlite @gosia @shailestha @beryl @denisefuller @clairebearni @bsh @loweygrace Thanks everyone for your comments and favs. The thing we do for a photo.
February 24th, 2015
@eyesmile Thanks Gena. I know, Didn't get badly mozzied though and didn't see any snakes and as far as I know I didn't get bitten by the spider whose web I destroyed, so all is well.
February 24th, 2015
@chimfa Thanks Jane, no I didn't get a shock. Didn't touch the pylon. The only shock I got was from the web I walked through.
February 24th, 2015
@derekvickers Thanks Derek and for the fav.
February 24th, 2015
@paulaw Thanks Paula. The pylons out here don't tend to be fenced off so it is easy to walk under them. Apart from the web I walked through, the only other danger was mainly from the millions of mozzies at the wetlands. I have probably got Ross River Virus and Dengue Fever now, ha ha.
February 24th, 2015
@thistle Thanks Joyce, don't know whether it was brave or stupid to venture in there, I had wandered off on my own so if I had been bitten by a snake or a deadly spider I would probably have been doomed, ha ha.
February 24th, 2015
@pippie Thanks for the fav Linda.
February 24th, 2015
Big fav! Fav for the image itself and fav for your efforts to get it! Incredible shot, love it!

February 27th, 2015
Great POV! Almost a Eiffel Tower in miniature :)
February 27th, 2015
I hate spider face.... Funny how these pylons just call out to you when you have a camera in hand. They made my year one album quite a few times. Nice capture
