Norah Head Light is an active lighthouse located at Norah Head, a headland on the Central Coast, New South Wales, It is the last lighthouse of the James Barnet style to be built and the last staffed lighthouse constructed in New South Wales.
Officially displayed for the first time in 1903, the original vaporized kerosene burner was upgraded in 1923, electrified in 1961 and automated and de-manned in 1994, after more than 90 years of being staffed. It celebrated its centenary in 2003.
Thanks to everyone who commented on yesterday's photo at Lakes Beach and for putting it on the TP and the PP.
I did manage to stay upright yesterday when leaving my friends party. Since I fell there last year they have now put pot plants along the courtyard step to limit the exit and also painted the edge of the step yellow. I wouldn't have dared to have tripped this time after all the effort he had gone to, to avoid another accident.
@365trish@888rachel Thanks. I think that this lighthouse at Norah Head, the one in Byron Bay and one at Point Perpendicular in NSW were all designed by the same person.
@happypat Thanks Pat. Not entirely for me I suspect. Martin another friend also fell in the same spot and also Lloyd the owner of the house had a recent fall on the same step too, so Christine his partner decided that it was time for drastic action. So I am not the only clumsy person in the neighbourhood. ha ha.
