A Grey Day by onewing

A Grey Day

I have been out most of the day and it has been a very grey day indeed. Some much needed rain though. It hasn't rained for over two weeks until today.

I thought I would split this picture taken in Newcastle into a triptych. I think the splashes of red brighten up the grey sky.

So love this atmosphere !!!!

The red certainly brightens up the grey day, nice to see a little break in the clouds too.

It looks a little English, Babs! I like the splashes of red too, especially the buoy who looks like a person in a red hat. Nicely assembled.

Very creative. Each panel works on its own. Seems there are many places waiting for much needed rain.

Sam
You want rain Babs? Move to Melbourne!!!
July 7th, 2016
@gigiflower Been there done that. Why do you think we moved up here. I prefer rain every couple of weeks rather than every day.

A lovely triptych from the same image -- love the pop of red so to carry you from one scene to the next .

Love the way you edited this Babs. It really works well with this shot.

Great triptych from a single image, works really well.

Great triptych you look as if you are getting as many grey days as us, even though it's summer here :-( .

Lovely capture cleverly sectioned to make a collage.
July 7th, 2016
That's a clever idea Babs, might have to pinch it!

Your ferry boat is such a cheerful way of traveling, I bet there's lots of chit chat!
July 7th, 2016
I really like how you did this... it puts each 'thing' into it's own little picture and looks so effective, fav. Loads of rain here in the UK, wish I could send it your way, we are fed up with it here.

What an inspired idea to split this into the three elements - it works so well. I really like this.

Clever image I like the centre frame the best where there is a patch of blue in the grey sky. :)
July 7th, 2016
I certainly can relate to that grey day :)

A cool collage

@pcoulson Thanks Peter. I loved the splash of red on a grey day and so pleased that I managed to position the boat and the buoy in the right place to be able to turn this into a triptych.
July 8th, 2016
@inthecloud5 Thanks Christine. I was pleased to see the break in the clouds too, we don't very often get such low clouds here.
July 8th, 2016
@quietpurplehaze ha ha, I thought the buoy looked like a person in a red hat too.
July 8th, 2016
@cruiser Thanks Chris. I liked the way that each panel told a different story too.

@craftymeg Thanks. Luckily we don't get too many grey days in our winters here. We see lots of sun too which I don't remember getting when we lived in the UK.
July 8th, 2016
@jackie8 Thanks Jackie. Look forward to seeing what you come up with. I have done lots of triptychs but this is the first one I have done from one image. Just lucky the buoy, boat and building were in the right places when I took the shot.

@stephanies Thanks Stephanie, I was just lucky that the three 'things' were in the right place to be able to split this photo into three.
I remember lots of rain in the UK when we lived there. That is one of the reasons we came to Australia. ha ha.

@helenhall Thanks Helen. I was pleased that this was able to be split into three and that each section told a different story.
July 8th, 2016
@rjb71 Thanks Richard. We didn't see much blue in the sky yesterday, it bucketed down most of the day and the clouds were really low. Don't usually get a whole day of rain, much needed though.

@olenadole @777margo @dianeburns @salza @cherrymartina @hermann @yaorenliu @sdutoit @novab @beryl @thistle @cruiser @seattlite @mittens @merrelyn @ladymagpie @happypat @gilbertwood @radiogirl @dawnee Thanks everyone. I was so lucky that this one image was able to be split into three. It is the first time that I have done a triptych from one image. I usually do three different images. I think this works well and each panel tells a different story.

I didn't know you lived in the UK, whereabouts were you Babs? @onewing
July 9th, 2016
@stephanies We lived everywhere. Originally Yorkshire then Lancashire and then I married David and he was in the RAF so we lived everywhere for the next 20 years. After a 3 year tour in Cyprus it was a bit of a culture shock coming back to the UK so he left the RAF and joined the RAAF.
