Walkway

For the last few days Susi @susiangelgirl has been posting photos of Queens Wharf walkway in Newcastle which sadly has just been demolished. This part of the walkway is attached to the one Susi has been taking photos of. I hope this part of the walkway remains.

I took this photo a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately, the railway line has also been demolished and Newcastle Railway Station is no more.

I know they are going to build a light rail. I hope the actual station at Newcastle isn't demolished too. It would make a great museum.

I am sure there must be logic there somewhere. Remove the existing rail line that has been there for over 150 years because it obstructs the traffic and replace it with a light rail which apparently won't obstruct the traffic.

@susiangelgirl Is this part of the walkway being demolished too?

Lovely perspective and detail Babs, sad sign of the times or the relentless march of progress changing our urban landscape for ever:)

The lines are great and the color really stands out. Sad to read a landmark is gone -- wondering if anything of it will be saved?

Love the lines !

A great shot. It's sad that structures like this have to go to make everyone's lives 'better'.

Progress is 'progress' after all................ Mostly it just doesn't make any sense. Like the leading lines in your shot and my eye is drawn to the windows.

Here is the outside bit attached to this walkway that has just been demolished. http://365project.org/onewing/365/2016-04-23
and here is the outside of this walkway that Rachel took when we met up in Newcastle in January. http://365project.org/888rachel/365/2016-01-12

Oh no, they demolished the walkway that looked like a spine. I liked that one.

@888rachel Yes they did Rachel. So sad to see it go. I doubt you will recognise Newcastle next time you come down here. Hopefully it will be nice when it's finished. I suspect it is going to be a series of concrete boxes though if the developers get their own way.

love the colour and lines Babs.

It looks in good shape what a shame that it is under threat. I have just looked at the out door parts and really cant understand why they should go unless there is a greater scheme a foot. At least, between you, you have it well documented.

Great shot. The lines and the tones are terrific. If nothing else, at least there are a couple of photogs documenting what's being lost.
