Thanks so much to everyone who have commented and fav'd my photos over the last couple of days. Sorry I can't reply individually, but I am a bit pushed for time at the moment. Lots happening here and I want to spend my computer time commenting and looking at your photos. Not much free time the last couple of days.
I spotted this make do and mend shed along the riverbank at Maitland and thought the patterns make an excellent half and half photo. I just loved the textures and colours of this wall of the shed. Why it has a handle on the corrugated bit I have no idea, but it does give the shed a bit of character. Would be interesting to know that the corrugated part was in its previous existence.
@888rachel@annied Thanks. David is doing okay. He had blood tests this morning as part of ongoing tests to see if they can find out what caused the DVT in the first place seeing as he hasn't been on any long plane flights etc lately. He doesn't make a good patient, so it could be heavy going for a while, ha ha.
I'm glad to read David is improving. Jim had that about 6 years ago and was on blood thinners for almost a year. It was following knee surgery. He is doing fine. I hope that David's improvement has a smooth road. Compression socks become a new way of life, but they've helped a lot. AND, your photo is well spotted and composed. I like that you included the handle.
I didn't know David was poorly, please do give him all my best. Love the contrast between the two halves of this shot, great textures. As for the handle, it looks to me like a bracket for a down-pipe that's come adrift.
Interesting contrasts, I really like the wooden panel, the way the grain whirls around. I am so sorry to read about David and John. I had a DVT some years back as a result of being pretty immobile after an operation... and guess what, I had those stupid socks on the whole time as well. I was on rat poison - warfarin for months after. Every time I have an op now I have to go on blood thinners for a month after.. they are injectable ones though. I really hope everything goes ok for John's op and that they find out why David got a DVT. I was a prime candidate really - smoked, overweight and on the pill.
@lynnz@taffy@golftragic@777margo@nicolecampbell@ethelperry@dolphin@caitnessa@adayinmallacoota Thanks, I am on catch up this afternoon. I have been driving David here there and everywhere the last few days. He is feeling slightly better this afternoon and the pain in his leg isn't as excruciating as it was a couple of days ago apparently. He doesn't make a good patient though. I may have to smack him to get him to do as he is told. ha ha.
John's surgery is this afternoon and I will hear later this evening how he is when his daughter phones.
@stephanies Thanks Stephanie. David says he is feeling slightly better this afternoon. He has apparently got two clots in his left leg. He is on similar medication to warfarin to thin his blood and hopefully dissolve the clots. He is slightly overweight, but not hugely so. He doesn't smoke and he isn't on the Pill. He has already had an injection on the day he was at the doctor and now has to take the thinners for 3 weeks and then go back to see if the dose can be reduced.
He has had blood tests to see if that can shed any light on what caused the clot in the first place.
John's surgery is this afternoon, so he will still be in theatre at present.
Hope David is doing well - and you too :)
I was intrigued by the handle on the corrugated metal. As someone mentioned it may have been holding a downpipe in place in its previous existence.
The knots on the wood do look like bugs don't they as Christine thought.
The latest on John and David are that John has surgery tomorrow to remove the tumour in his brain. We are all hoping for a good result.
David had more blood tests this morning to see if they can determine what caused the DVT in his leg in the first place seeing as he hasn't been on any long plane flights lately. He is now on blood thinners to try and dissolve the clot.
