This afternoon we went for a walk at Little Beach as it was such a lovely day after all the rain we have had.
A very mild sunny day too. Just goes to show that even though it is winter in Australia the weather isn't bad every day.
We climbed the hilly road to the Inner Light Tea Room and had tea and scones at the café.
The round part of the building on the left of this picture was the original Inner Light (no longer in use) and it is now a small museum. The building attached to it became the lighthouse keepers cottage and at the back of this building is the tea room overlooking the ocean.
The building on the right is Marine Rescue Port Stephens.
What you call 'bristling with antennae"! A lovely little lighthouse - never seen one like this - must have a wonderful view for that light to be seen afar!
@paulaw It is a nice little tourist attraction now and excellent scones too. our ladies lunch which we have once a month was here at the end of May, but I couldn't go because I had a hospital appointment.
@richardcreese@louannwarren@happypat@jorlam Thanks. The Marine Rescue is manned 24 hours a day. A lot of traffic in and around the bay. Out through the Heads which you can see in today's photo, th ocean gets quite choppy, so marine rescue is essential. Inside the bay the water is quite calm most of the time.
@maggiemae The inner light lighthouse is no longer operational. The only lighthouse in our area now is Point Stephens lighthouse.
The marine rescue operates 24 hours a day though and is manned mainly by volunteers.
@nicolecampbell Oh dear, hope she will be okay. Maybe we could come to Newcastle when you are here.
We are OK. David's leg is a lot better now after his DVD but still on meds and I have a hospital appointment tomorrow for more tests.
That is certainly looking bright and cheerful for a winters day. Tea and scones - just the job. Ive seen a seak preview of the view - so know it would have been worth it!
That late afternoon sunshine looks as appealing as the tea and scones..
The weather has been lovely the last couple of days after so many days of rain. Mild too, around 19 or 20 degrees C. not bad for winter.
