Goulburn Supermax Prison  by onewing

Goulburn Supermax Prison

After posting a photo yesterday of Berrima minimum security prison I thought I would post one of Goulburn Super Maximum Security Correctional Centre, or Goulburn Supermax as it is commonly known.

I have read a couple of books lately about a couple of inmates at Goulburn Supermax, one about Ivan Milat and another about Lindsay Rose, so before we went to the Steampunk Festival on Saturday I thought I would make a detour and take a couple of pictures of the prison.

To be honest it was quite scary because it probably wasn't a good idea to stop in front of the prison at 9 am on a Saturday morning just as the 'visitors' were arriving. I didn't hang around too long and made sure I didn't get any photos of people who were entering the prison to visit their friends or relatives. Needless to say David stayed in the car, ready to make a quick get away if needed, ha ha.

The two photos of the prison further away were easier to take as they weren't at the front entrance.

My other photo today filling in some of the gaps from our holiday is of the Goulburn Steampunk Festival.

Now that's one prison you would not want to be staying in.

Beautiful and very neat collage. If you keep on visiting prisons you will end inside in the end, haha.

Ah yes I see the fence, in Smerica our prisons have coiled razor wire along the top of the fence.

Great collage and an interesting looking prison.

Great collage. It does look to be in a more deserted area.

Not investigating future places you may end up? You been naughty m'dear?? Lovely triptych. Those doors always have me saying "Norman Stanley Fletcher......." It's the big doors that feel like prison to me.

I'm sure the security cameras caught the whole thing but obviously they didn't think you were casing the joint! We have a minimum security jail near here too, but I don't think I'll be stopping by for a photo any time soon!

@kjarn Too right

@sangwann Not a chance of being on the inside. I can't even visit Maitland Jail with our photo club and that has been closed to prisoners for years. Just to be inside a jail gives me the creeps.

@ludwigsdiana It was quite scary especially as the visitors were arriving to see their relatives. I didn't stay long.

@hermann I only wanted to see what the prison was like since reading Lindsay Rose's story.

@pusspup Not brave, just curious. I lock the doors.

@louannwarren @mittens @carolmw @craftymeg @pcoulson @Dawn @pyrrhula Glad I was on the outside, it was quite creepy.

@henrir Not in a deserted area at all Henri, actually it is almost in the middle of Goulburn.

@casablanca Photographing two prisons in two days is enough to put me off porridge.

@olivetreeann Oh dear, never thought of cctv cameras.

It looks a bit scary, I wouldn’t want to get too close. Great set of images though.
