This flower was in the same area as yesterday's mystery flower.
I am sure Julia will be able to identify it.
When I was taking this photo a chap walked passed and said 'Hello' I asked him if he knew what this flower was called and he said 'How about Gladys' ha ha.
No I don't know this one... perhaps it's one that hasn't made its home in NZ.. but if it helps Mums name was Gladys... lol... I will have a look in my book later...
Ismene Littoralis | Hymenocallis Littoralis | Peruvian Daffodils
Hymenocallis Littoralis is an evergreen variety, with spectacular blooms whose dramatically elongated petals are reflexed behind the prominent cup. Sweetly scented, the blooms are gracefully reminiscent of a Salvador Dali painting, and very long lasting. Native to Mexico, this beauty is hard to find, but such a pleasure to grow! Happy in containers or the garden bed, hymenocallis are drought tolerant, but prefer even moisture. Highly attractive to butterflies, but unlikely to be nibbled by deer or rabbits.
I thought it looked like a spider when I first saw it but didn’t suggest it because I thought it was silly and what do you know, it’s a spider lily!
Isn’t 365 wonderful....there always seems to be someone we can ask. It does look very like an alien I agree, I wouldn’t think she was a Gladys, perhaps a Priscilla! Beautiful flower though, very exclusive!
@happypat 365 is so good isn't it, I always find out so much on here.
Priscilla is a good name too, reminds me of Priscilla queen of the desert, I could just see her on top of a bus in the outback with flowing scarves trailing behind her.
@chimfa You know me Jane, they always find me. I must have that kind of face that attracts the odd ones, ha ha. I now know that it is also called a Peruvian daffodil and a spider lily but it will always be Gladys for me now.

@brennieb I had to laugh when he suggested Gladys too.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Wendy Whitefower sounds very elegant.
@beryl @casablanca @inthecloud5 @carole_sandford @samae @joysabin It may be known as a Peruvian Daffodil or a Spider Lily, but it will always be Gladys for me too.

@julienne1 @radiogirl @loweygrace It is very strange isn't it, but so beautiful too.
@pyrrhula Thanks for letting me know the length of the bridge, it is incredible.
