As I have been posting photos taken in Maitland over the last few days, I thought I would post this one of St Mary's Rectory, taken when we went to Maitland Steamfest a few weeks ago.
My friend Sharon and I had tea and scones in St Mary's parish hall just next to the rectory while David was busy videoing and taking photos of the trains. The scones were made by volunteers of St Mary's parish and they were delicious.
Oh what a super building. I have a great love balconies and verandahs. Hardly ever see them here, of course. My dream is to have a house with them! I'd love to live here :)
@golftragic I suppose it has been tarted up from time to time. The original rectory built in 1838 was destroyed by fire and restored but by 1879 there were big problems with it and so this replacement rectory was built in 1880. The west wing top floor was added in 1905 and that is all I know about it.
