bwahahaha that's so funny because there is a princess parrot as well but I don't believe there is a prince parrot. what a find - interesting that the red is on the belly, whereas for the adult it is on the head. lovely capture :)
@koalagardens I believe that the male Australian king parrots have a completely red head. Females are similar to males except that they have a completely green head and breast. Both sexes have a red belly and a green back, with green wings and a long green tail. So I am wondering if this is a baby female or maybe they could all start off this colour and change when they become adults. I suppose you could call her a princess then rather than a prince, ha ha.
@onewing I must read up on this a bit - you've got me quite interested since I have them here, but I see pairs that both have red heads! I love learning new things!
I am surprised that you don't carry a pocket camera with you. You are always out and about and seem to be missing some opportunities. Don't you also have the FZ 80? Beautiful shot of your Prince ;-)
@ludwigsdiana I usually have my camera with me and yes I do have a pocket camera, but I decided not to take it with me yesterday. Too busy catching up with friends, eating and drinking. The fig birds were bonus entertainment.
