Eastern Rosella by onewing

Eastern Rosella

I managed to get this photo of an Eastern Rosella, in the garden, just before the rain poured down and the thunder storm swept through.

It is very warm and humid now. Going to be a very uncomfortable night I think.

Today's main album photo http://365project.org/onewing/365/2014-02-19 Black and white back to back.

Lucky you Babs, they are such timid birds I can never get close enough to them to get a decent shot. We have heard them around here for the last few days but we don't normally see them.

The rain has ceased at the moment but it has been very heavy and the humidity has been awful. I have had to strip off (well not quite).

@elaine55 Thanks Elaine. I was so lucky with this shot. I don't usually manage to get a photo of them either, as you say they are so timid. As you can see he was getting ready to run!! He was in our frangipani tree and I had quite a bit of zoom on this.

Know what you mean about the humidity. We had torrential downpour and thunder storm this afternoon and I think the humidity is now up to about 90% I am almost stripped off too!! Going to be a very humid night I think.

@annied Thanks Annie. We have got a lot of rosella's at the moment and lots of other birds too. We have an olive tree in our garden and they are having a great time eating all the olives.

Great capture Babs, we have both Eastern and Crimson R.osellas, they are so timid. Good luck with the rain :-)

@onewing how wonderful - we always get lorikeets and very often Eastern and Crimson Rosellas, the occasional galah and sulphurs always around

@hermann Thanks Sally. More rain and thunder today, very humid now. We don't get crimson rosellas here, only the eastern. We used to get crimson in Melbourne.
