Purple Flower

Thanks to everyone who recognized yesterday's flower photo. I need some help with this one too.

I took this at Wallis Creek Watergarden a couple of weeks ago, but have no idea what it is called. You can tell I am not really a flower person. ha ha.
I just loved the colour.

The leaves look a little like a bromilaid but have never seen one with a flower like that... lovely colour...

I Googled it and he is correct. Peter wins a coconut. I suppose it makes sense that it is a water artichoke as the photo was taken at a water garden.
