My get pushed challenge this week, set by @joysabin: How about a shot of cooking a comfort meal. One recipe that brings the warmth and memories of the Netherlands to you since you now live in Wales.
Now that was a challenge indeed. Out of my comfort zone, I don't really photograph food and found it difficult to get it interesting. It was also a challenge because I find it difficult to concentrate anyway when I'm cooking and having the children around, let alone taking pictures of it. Lev loves to help and is really interested, so he often helps me.
This is 'erwten soep', pea stew. It's supposed to be made with green split peas, but we can't get it were we live, so I used yellow split peas and frozen green peas (for the colour). I love it, it reminds me of 'schaatsen', ice skating with my dad and aunt on the lakes. Being cold and tired after miles of skating and then having 'snert' to warm up.
Great collage of informative illustrations on making this delicious looking stew / hotpot ! And how lovely that you can reminisce of your childhood with this wonderful homeland dish ! - IT HAS MADE ME FEEL QIUTE HUNGRY !!
@overalvandaan This is so perfect!!!! Cooking touches the soul and you did so!!!! I truly liked that you did include a story. I look at cooking as an art, and as with any art you have to make compromises now and then, like not having the right ingredients or your favorite lens is sitting on the table at home when you're out - you make do with what you have. I was a pleasure stepping outside of my box and comfort zone this week.
