And the rest of The Harry Potter world is not only my dream place but that of so many other people and one I was lucky enough to share with my children as they grew up the way my childhood was shaped by Narnia. I guess it is no wonder that the books I write myself have more than a touch of magic and other worlds to them.
Those who understand the magic have no need of my explaining it, and those who don't will never understand just from my explaining, but if you have never read the books, no matter how old you are, I'd suggest willingly suspending your disbelief and diving in.
"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"
~J.K. Rowling, "King's Cross," Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, 2007, spoken by the character Albus Dumbledore
Great image. I also love the Harry Potter and Narnia books and have visited the locations from Harry Potter and have seen some of the original Cair Paravel from Narnia and also visited some of the areas where CS Lewis grew up (as they are in Belfast).
Ooh, all hard covers! That's what my Harry Potter collection looks like too (well, and electronically on my Kindle). I agree with you that people either "get it" or they don't. I'm so glad I do!
I love Harry P! I am reading the first one laundry to my fourth graders. Have nit read it since the first time I read it to my third graders....before any HP movie had been made. I am loving revisiting it...now that I have read and seen them all! Like someone has told Harry at the beginning something about how he won't believe how much he is going to change..about who he is going to become...and now that I know (just watched the last movie again the other day) I got a little teared up! ....
I thought about a similar idea for my pic too - though went with something far more mundane. If you ever find a way to that world, let me know and I'll be right behind you!
Darn, I could slap myself silly for being such a realist! I loved fantasy as a child but as I grew older....I just can't get interested. I love how you think....this is a most impressive look of magic!
