The Beightol girls, Aunt Clara, Grandma and Alice. Alice Graduated high school and started working as a teacher but died of a ruptured appendix just before she would have turned twenty.
Aunt Clara began corresponding with a Wyoming cowboy after he placed an ad in an Illinois paper looking for a woman to brave the frontier. She thought she could love this Lawrence Slack but when she travelled to meet and hopefully marry him, she didn't like him. She did however like his brother, Clarence. So when Grace came out to attend her sisters wedding, Clara and Clarence married but So did Grace and Lawrence soon after.
The first couple had four sons and my grandparents had only my Mom but their two houses stood side by side on the banks of the Greybull river by Meeteetse Wyoming and moms cousins were more like her brothers with all the same relatives.
Later Uncle Carl came to learn to be a cowboy with his brothers in law and of course that lead to his death in a POW camp as I stated previously
I have to go back more generations than you to find stories like this (but I do have one or two from the Conover side- but they don't involve cowboys!). But I am truly fascinated with your family's saga- it is both wonderful and tragic with "mail order brides" and unexpected deaths so early in life. I think you should truly compile them in a book for your granddaughter. I have a feeling she will be the one who grows up enjoying her history as much as her present.
