Epiphany by pandorasecho

Epiphany

Kings cake, or a king day ring, is a sweet bread, often frosted which is popular in the area around New Orleans from Epiphany to Lent. I've never had one but my friend posts ecstatic rants about them each year, so when this showed up at the Walmart bakery I grabbed it impulsively and it wasn't as dry and tasteless s I feared, moist and subtly sweet. The baby doll is supposed to be in the cake and whoever finds it has to bring the next cake, but of course in this sue happy culture, it might be a choking hazard so you have to insert it yourself.
Never heard of it

I make one. just one. on Epiphany. Every piece has a fortune. This year I got a key (so I'm to figure something out) and an eagle (so I'm to have adventure). I think I need to put the card with all the meanings we made up in with the Christmas boxes because it seems that by the end of the year, NO ONE can remember their fortune to see if it came true.

@pandorasecho well, I just comb the house for small objects like buttons, monopoly house (12), I make a list and assign corresponding fortunes (this is sometimes a communal task; I think this is the funnest part). So every piece of the cake has a fortune. I think I may have made this up, but have been doing for so many years, it seems like an ancient tradition.
